Post-Sandy Help Still Needed in Windsor Terrace, Kensington

From making donations to taking the time to volunteer, there are many organizations still asking for your help.

Now that a layer of snow has been dumped atop an already grim post-Sandy city, many New Yorkers need your donations more than ever. 

Here are some upcoming opportunities to help in Windsor Terrace and Kensington:

Friends of Greenwood Playground will be hosting a supply drive on Nov. 12 at Cynthia King Dance Studio from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Check for details on the FOGP Facebook page

The Park Slope Armory still needs volunteers. According to Councilman Brad Lander, the shelter is currently housing as many as 350 people from nursing homes in the Rockaways. Volunteer shifts are held in four hour increments, and the need for help is particularly pressing at night. Donations in the form of food for the staff and volunteers are also welcome.

The Armory is located at 361 15th St. in Park Slope.

Brooklyn Public Library is holding a donation drive from Nov. 8 through Nov. 23. for residents of Red Hook and Coney Island, the borough's two hardest-hit regions. Items can be deposited at several branches. Click here for a complete list of what to donate.

The Flatbush Jewish Center is collecting supplies for Sandy victims. Specifically, the center is requesting coats, cleaning supplies, canned goods and water. On Thursday, drop-off your goods from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
