Talking Windsor Terrace with Miss America
We snagged a minute of the beauty queen's time to remember her former life as a regular Brooklynite.
As we reported yesterday, Mallory Hagan is having a very Brooklyn week. The former Windsor Terrace resident and current Miss America spent Thursday morning reading to a group of kids at the Brooklyn District Attorney's office, and it was there that we cornered her (nicely!) to reminisce for a moment about the two years she spent in the neighborhood:
Patch: Is it true that you moved out of your apartment in Windsor Terrace?
Miss America: It is. I'm constantly on the road, so it just didn't make sense, really, for me to continue paying rent.

Patch: So did your roommate put up like, a Craigslist ad for someone to replace you?
MA: No, he didn't. He owns the apartment that we were living in, so I think he's actually going to consider moving himself. I'm not really sure what his plans are here on out, but I think that may be in his future as well.

Patch: Did he take the news of your departure pretty well? It always sucks when a roommate moves out, even if it's for a good reason...like yours.
MA: Yeah, he did. I was there as kind of a luxury—it wasn't a necessity for me to be there. We were great roommates, because we were both never home. So it was a great friendship and partnership in living.
Patch: Will you be heading back to Windsor Terrace once it all wraps up?
MA: I will be heading back to Brooklyn, but who knows, you know, looking for an apartment is just one of those things you never know where you're going to land. But I would love to. I loved living in Windsor Terrace, I really did.
Patch: Did you have a favorite place to go in the neighborhood?
MA: I lived in Windsor Cafe. It's the one place that I knew—especially with the dietary restrictions that I had, leading up to Miss New York and then leading up to Miss America—it was the one place that I knew I could go and ask for anything and they would make it.
