Used Bookstore Opens on Prospect Park West

Terrace Books had its soft opening on Saturday after taking over Babbo's Books on May 15th.

The Park Slope-based Community Bookstore opened a second, freshly renovated outpost in Windsor Terrace on Saturday, offering a host of used book selections.

Located at 242 Prospect Park West, Terrace Books took over from the used bookstore Babbo’s Books. Babbo’s owner Leonora Stein wanted to move on to other things, according to the Terrace Books website, but also wanted to ensure that a bookstore stayed in Windsor Terrace.

“Bookstores are neighborhood watering holes,” manager Stephanie Valdez said. “It’s a place where people can come and browse books and share ideas. It’s a really valuable service, to have a bookstore in a neighborhood.”

Terrace Books customers can expect mostly used books, a few new books, kids’ books, out-of-print and vintage options as well as delivery of new titles from Community Bookstore.

“Selling used books provides us with an opportunity to serve up interesting, affordable books and to recycle some of the books that overflow from our customers’ shelves,” the store’s website says.

Hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and 12 to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
