SCAR Overwhelmed by Needy Pets

Last week we mentioned that the Sean Casey Animal Rescue had a sudden influx of animals with special needs, most requiring expensive medical attention. Well, since then, SCAR has received even more emergency cases, including a friendly cat who needed to have her eyes removed and three German shepherds (that's Marie Curie pictured above) who were caught running scared around the Parade Ground. Today the Daily News helps get the word out, reminding people to donate to the shelter if they can:

"We operate on a very small budget," said owner and operator Sean Casey. "We're always pretty much a day-to-day operation with most of the money going directly to the animals. When we get surgeries like this - and all at once - it climbs very quickly into the thousands. It's draining."

If you can help, you can do so at their website or by calling (718) 436-5163.
