What Makes A House A Home? Music

Two members of Brooklyn Rider string quartet live, eat and play music in their Windsor Terrace home.

As a string quartet Brooklyn Rider has played Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, according to their website. So it's safe to say that as far as performances go, they have attained two bucket list goals almost any New York-based musicians can dream about (or, for that matter, many musicians anywhere.)

But, according to a recent New York Times article, the quartet are just at home playing, well, at home.

Half of the members of Brooklyn Rider, brothers Colin and Eric Jacobsen, live in a brick Windsor Terrace house that doubles at times as recording studio, rehearsal space and performance center.

"They make music, then they make dinner," the paper reported in the Real Estate section.

For the brothers, it's a perfect blend of food, family, music and home.

"Somebody can be here cutting an onion and I can be stirring something and we can still talk about the music we just played and about life," Eric is quoted in the article.
