Does Celebrate Brooklyn Annoy You?

Tell us how you really feel.

The first Celebrate Brooklyn of the season kicked off on a high note Tuesday night, with crooning to a sea of adoring fans—and some peeved neighbors.

While Celebrate Brooklyn may be great fun for those who choose to attend, all those decibels do tend to waft toward less appreciative ears, namely, residents living along the park who just want to get some shut-eye.

Moreover, one of the lodged against the Great GoogaMooga was the amount of feet trampling the park's delicate grounds. Does Celebrate Brooklyn encourage the same issues?

We want to know: If you live near the park, do you enjoy Celebrate Brooklyn? Or would you be more inclined to celebrate some peace and quiet?

First: I'm a fan of the Windsor Terrace-Kensington Patch and read it just about everyday. I must note, however, that I feel it's premature and negative to have such a post which solicits complaints on this season of Celebrate Brooklyn. It only started this past Tuesday. Also, I understand that this event has been taking place since 1979 so I gather that while all of the people can't be pleased all of the time, the folks at Celebrate Brooklyn must be doing something right. Let's not let the spirit of Googa Mooga (I was there, btw, and had a nice time) cast a pall on this event so soon. Celebrate!

Celebrate Brooklyn has been a joy for years - part of living in an urban setting is experiencing cultural events, and free ? Even better ! And is nighttime music such a tragedy ?

I'll tell you what annoys me about Celebrate Brooklyn: the area is fenced off from June till the end of August, 24/7. I don't mind anything else.

You might as well move into an apt facing the BQE and then demand that trucks stop making so much noise. It comes with the territory, and if you don't like it...move.

thats original , why should anyone move when they can alter the problem.
Michael June 12, 2012 at 04:23 pm
As Tom said, the problem can be altered quite simply by lowering the music a bit. I can hear the music some nights all the way down on Prospect and 11th at 10 pm at night. It is simply over the top.

LOVE celebrate brooklyn. One hip hop act a year goes over the top with subs, other than that i wish it were all year long.
