As has been pointed out here it was the park who called it off not the promoters. I think the park…Read More officials realized that had they had 90000 people in the meadow in the pouring rain it would have really destroyed the place and they would have had a hard time trying to defend putting on this event. And while the park and Superfly (dumb name) claimed the park had been restored after last years debacle I took pictures just a couple of weeks ago of all the bare spots still not grown back. That gully area in the southern end of the park, where they had that big stupid metallic pig Hammegedan (another dumb name) parked had basically a dirt road running through it. So anyone who says the park was brought back is either not looking or being disingenuous.

They also shut down the bars at 9:00pm on Friday night at the concert, stranding tons of us with…Read More unused tickets for bars that were not open. Had they told patrons, perhaps less of an issue. But I watched them sell $60 in tickets to a couple who then turned around to find out the bars were all closed. People were PO'd and the staff was completely unforgiving. A kind of FU attitude about the whole mess. We wont be back. They simply cant run an effective event.

The Nethermead still shows damage from last year's GM. So does the Wellhouse Drive near the…Read More Nethermead. The damaged turf in both areas was reseeded but not protected adequately.
After several weeks of people playing soccer on the reseeded Nethermead areas, the park finally got around to staking them off. Due to dry weather and a poor reseeding method (very few seeds could be seen) the grass did not grow in well.
The Wellhouse Drive was not staked off. The park's garbage trucks and other vehicles drove over the reseeded area right away. This is why there is a wide strip of packed dirt next to the (newly paved) Drive.
I find this is typical of much of the work done in the park. There seems to be very little supervision, expertise and follow up.
One of my pet peeves is the indiscriminate dumping of wood chips on grassy areas, killing the grass. This seems to happen especially in the southern areas of the park. (Why was a mound of chips dumped over 2 months ago on a grassy area near the Rustic Shelter/West Drive? This area was staked off for about 2 years to regrow the grass!)
If there is damage to the grass, why not reseed instead of covering everything with wood/christmas tree chips (as was done near the Park Circle)?
For 2 years workers dumped chips on beautiful thick growing grass under the Willow Oak on the Peninsula. The chips were left in a pile and killed the grass. The mounds were eventually worn down by years of kids playing on them. Now you can see patches of wood chips where once grass grew.
P.S. Why does the park use Monsanto's Roundup? This herbicide is extremely toxic to humans and wildlife. A Prospect Park Alliance worker once told me that "the city makes them do it".... Really?
I am also concerned about the Lakeside year round roller/ice skating rink. I hope NO MUSIC will be played during the warm months. It will spoil large areas of the park.

There are no shortage of legitimate reasons NOT to vote for Ms. Quinn. First, she voted for Mike…Read More Bloomberg to get a third term over the twice stated vote of the NYC people that Mayors be limited to two terms. Second, she spent the past three years blocking a vote by the NYC Council on paid sick leave. Just last week she had a change of heart and let the vote take place, because she was to trick the voters. Third, Ms. Quinn removed Councilmember Charles Barron from the Chairmanship of the Council's Higher Education Committee because she holds a personal bias against Mr. Barron. Fourth, she plays the race card as concerns public safety; in white neighborhoods Ms. Quinn lavishes praise on NYPD Police Commissioner Ray Kelly and publicly committed to selecting him as her Police Commissioner IF she is elected Mayor. Then she goes into Black neighborhoods and fakes a concern about (Mr. Kelly's stop and frisk policies and pledges to enact an Inspector General's Office to 'watch' NYPD) The list is endless: Quinn is a fake and a fraud and voters MUST not be fooled by these fake media planted stories that a large number of NYC folks support her.

I think it's more that she figured this info would come out, so she would get in front of it and try…Read More to control how it is perceived. Hence the exclusive for the Times. I think that's fine. I'm not a fan of Quinn's. To me, she's just another tool of the 1%, as shown by her opposition to the living wage bill and many similar things. But I applaud her being open about these issues. As a candidate, she should be judged on her extensive political record more than her medical or mental health issues, which seem resolved.

This is a sob story planted by Ms. Quinn and her set to garner sorrow and pity by the voters. Where…Read More was this information over the past ten years? In the past when elected public officials attempt to get sympathy by raising heath concerns especially alcohol issues, the media immediately requests the medical records be publicly revealed partly to verify the claims but also to ascertain the candidates' fitness to hold public office. Remember, although medical records especially alcohol treatment are normally confidential, it was Ms. Quinn who raised the issue--to get public sympathy. Ms. Quinn--its time to open your records and answer questions about to addiction of yours, specifically will your addiction impact your ability to fulfill the rigors of the Mayor's office?
