New Seafood Restaurant to Open Next Month

Brooklyn Oyster Company will offer a variety of seafood in an unpretentious space.

A seafood restaurant is expected to open next month on 16th Street and Prospect Park West in place of the former ice cream shop Scoopz, DNAinfo reported Tuesday.

Brooklyn Oyster Company will sell lobster rolls, clams, oysters, shrimp and craft beer in a "no-frills" atmosphere, according to the restaurant’s accountant Benjamin Heitner.

"We want a nice simple feeling," Heitner said. "We really don't think we're a destination spot. We're trying to build it to blend in with the neighborhood."

The restaurant's owners, Martin and Mark Whelan, are brothers who run the Midtown bars Stout NYC, Maggie’s Place and St. Andrews.
